Six week course debuts July 20. Flexible 3-week intensive option can start as late as August 7.

Cornell Garden-based Learning is offering a new online training course designed for K-12 educators looking for practical tools to teach about:

  • Food systems
  • Traditional indigenous ecological knowledge 
  • Waste-to-resource solutions

The six-week training, Climate Solutions: Permaculture Fundamentals for Educators, debuts July 20.  A flexible three-week intensive version is also available that can be started anytime up to August 7.

Participants engage with weekly video lectures and curated readings. Assignments guide participants in applying course concepts to their own contexts, culminating in the development of a curriculum unit that integrates permaculture concepts into their teaching practice.

Optional live Zoom sessions throughout the course provide opportunities for peer learning, curriculum feedback, and live coaching on curriculum projects.

The course instructor, Monica Ibacache, is the founder of Eco-Designers -- a New York City-based permaculture and sustainable design education program for youth and educators.

The course fee is $350 (including the optional Zoom sessions) and provides 30 CTLE hours for New York State teachers.
