Cornell Integrated Pest Management has named Joellen Lampman coordinator of tick and school IPM, according to Jody Gangloff-Kaufmann, associate director of community and urban IPM.

“Joellen is a dynamic and engaging educator who has connected thousands of New Yorkers with information and resources to identify and protect themselves and their families from ticks and tick-borne diseases,” Gangloff-Kaufmann said. “We are thrilled to recognize her dedication and to expand her reach through her new role.”

Lampman joined Cornell IPM in 2013 as a turfgrass and school IPM extension support specialist. Her new appointment to extension associate will allow her to take the lead on providing outreach and applied research related to tick monitoring and management and tick and tick-borne disease prevention through work with diverse audiences and stakeholders.  She will also provide leadership in integrated pest management adoption in schools by coordinating demonstrations and educational trainings in districts statewide.

“Joellen’s appointment reflects our strategic realignment within Cornell IPM to better serve the people of New York State,” Cornell IPM Director Alejandro Calixto said. “By elevating her role, we’re expanding our capacity to address critical public health concerns like tick-borne diseases and enhancing our support for schools statewide. Her leadership in both areas exemplifies our commitment to delivering impactful, science-based solutions where they’re needed most.”

Lampman earned a Bachelor of Science in natural resources from Cornell University and completed her master’s degree in science communication from the ] Stony Brook University this spring. She is based out of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Albany County and can be reached at jkz6 [at] cornell.edu (jkz6[at]cornell[dot]edu)
