Joseph Ganley joined our CoE team in July as a business development specialist. As part of our business development team, Joe works with our member entrepreneurs and businesses to help them start and grow their enterprises here in New York.
Joe will be based in Saratoga County, a commitment to our mission to grow the food, beverage and agriculture industries statewide.

Describe your role at the Center of Excellence:
As a Business Development Specialist at the CoE, I work with entrepreneurs and business start-ups in the agrifood sector to help them grow their businesses in New York State.
What did you do professionally before coming to the Center of Excellence?
For the last 10 years, I worked for the Agriculture Development Team at the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. My area of focus for the role was marketing, promotions, and grant management. This position incorporated my decades of food & beverage experience to help New York’s agricultural growers and producers.
What excites you most about the work the Center of Excellence and Cornell AgriTech is doing to help grow the food and agriculture industries in New York?
What I am most excited about is delivering innovative, efficient, supportive concepts to growers and producers. The goal is to continue to create a strong economic environment where New York businesses continue to be industry leaders.
What’s one piece of advice you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Organization and preparation lead to success. Being organized and doing the necessary homework is essential to making progress.
What has inspired you to pursue the career you have today?
A passion for the food industry. I have been involved in food and beverage operations since 1985. The people, places, education, and adventures have become a part of my soul. So much more to do!
What do you like to do when you aren’t working?
Spending time with my family is what I enjoy most outside of work.
What's something most people don’t know about you?
That I have learned to play multiple musical instruments in the last few years. I enjoy a wide range of music that inspires me. Ultimately, my goal is to write and arrange enough songs to create an album.
