Alysia Ericsson joined our CoE team in July 2024 as a business development specialist. As part of our business development team, Alysia works with our member entrepreneurs and businesses to help them start and grow their enterprises here in New York.

Describe your role at the Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture:  

 

I’m a business development specialist Center of Excellence for Food and Agriculture, which means I get to help food companies all over New York State grow their businesses.

 

What did you do professionally before coming to the Center of Excellence? 

 

Before joining the CoE, I worked in quality assurance for various food and beverage companies, from international beverage brands to local dairy plants.

 

What excites you most about the work the Center of Excellence and Cornell AgriTech is doing to help grow the food and agriculture industries in New York? 

 

I'm passionate about supporting small food businesses and turning innovative ideas into successful products. The work the Center of Excellence and Cornell AgriTech is doing to incubate innovation really does change the world.

 

What’s one piece of advice you’ve learned over the course of your career?  

 

Everyone has a unique perspective and experience that can help the team. My experience in dairy doesn’t mean I can run a filler!

 

What inspired you to pursue the career you have today?   

 

My love of food got me here. I love eating and cooking and I find motivation through helping keep the food supply safe.   

 

What do you like to do when you aren’t working? 

 

When I'm not working, you can find me enjoying hobbies like board games, ballet, and baking.

 

What's something most people don’t know about you?  

 

Fun fact: I once won a trip to Australia through a board game competition!
