NYS Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball and Cornell CALS PRO-DAIRY Specialists Jason Karszes and Peter Wright presented the PRO-DAIRY Agriservice Award to John Dickinson, Ideal Dairy, Hudson Falls, and Rick Grant, Miner Institute, Chazy, during the Dairy Day Recognition and Awards breakfast on September 1 at the Great New York State Fair. These awards are given in appreciation and recognition of outstanding contributions to NYS agriculture through support of PRO-DAIRY.

“This year’s recipients are recognized for their exceptional contributions and collaboration over many years in support of the applied research, management, and education mission of PRO-DAIRY’s statewide program,” Dr. Thomas Overton, PRO-DAIRY Director said.

John Dickinson is a committed participant in many of PRO-DAIRY’s education and applied research programs, particularly those related to business management. He is also very active in industry leadership, most recently as Chair of the Northeast Dairy Producers Association, and has been an excellent and valued partner with PRO-DAIRY programs in this capacity. We also greatly value his long-term commitment to and collaboration with our statewide PRO-DAIRY specialists.

Under the leadership of Rick Grant, Miner Institute research and outreach programs have made exceptional contributions to the dairy industry in New York. As president of Miner Institute, Grant has promoted partnerships with PRO-DAIRY and Cornell Cooperative Extension professionals, and established excellent and longstanding collaborations in educational programming and applied research. We greatly value these collaborations and their impact on the dairy industry.

PRO-DAIRY’s mission is to facilitate New York State economic development by increasing the profitability and competitiveness of its dairy industry. PRO-DAIRY specialists have made a positive impact on the technical knowledge, management skills and economic strength of New York State’s dairy industry since 1988.
