Donna Bunce, business manager in the Department of Biological Statistics and Computational Biology, received the Core Value Staff Award for Communication at a ceremony Nov. 5 celebrating research, extension and staff excellence at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

The award recognizes outstanding staff whose performance routinely surpasses expectations and makes significant or unique contributions to the college.

Called "The Wonder Woman of the department" by a faculty member, Bunce handles the technical challenges of budgets and grant proposals. She was lauded for being an invaluable asset to the department. Her performance as business manager has been exemplary since she began her role in 2010.

"Our college would not be the world leader it is today without the support of our remarkable staff," said Kathryn J. Boor, the Ronald P. Lynch Dean of CALS.

Bunce was acknowledged as someone conscientious about keeping colleagues informed, not only across the department but across Cornell. Her colleagues said she is astutely able to parse the urgent from the important, according to Boor.

"Donna, thank you for accomplishing the demands of your position at such a high level," Boor said at the ceremony.
