An editorial written by two Cornell CALS researchers warning of the impact immigration policy could have on America’s food supply won a top journalism award from the New York State Agricultural Society.

Penned by Mary Jo Dudley, director of the Cornell Farmworker Program, and Justine Vanden Heuvel, associate professor of viticulture and enology, their editorial "Your Food and Wine Costs are Going to Rise When Donald Trump Takes Office” appeared Jan. 5, 2017 in marketwatch.com. The piece considered the potential impact President Trump's campaign rhetoric concerning immigration policy would have on food and beverages if enacted into law.

Referred to as Cap Creal Journalism Awards, the honor recognizes journalists for well-written, informative and timely news stories about agriculture in New York. Dudley and Vanden Heuvel, who received the award Jan. 15 in Syracuse, won for printed editorial.
