On Monday, Oct. 30, Dean Kathryn J. Boor '80 presented Tamara Shollenberger with the Core Value Staff Award for Job Skills in a ceremony celebrating research, extension and staff excellence. A human resources generalist, Shollenberger has served the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) for 27 years.

As a human resources professional, she encourages staff across the college to adopt and promote Cornell core values for both individual and institutional success. While primarily focused on CALS International Programs, Shollenberger serves the entire college by helping to recruit and retain dedicated and high-performing staff. Colleagues have described her approach as personal and caring while supporting a large number of people across the college.

The Core Value Staff Awards recognize staff whose performance has gone far beyond the standards defined by Cornell’s Skills for Success, recognizing performance that surpasses expectations and makes a significant and/or unique contribution to the college. The award for job skills is for candidates who maintain professional certifications and licensing, and seek education to help them remain on the cutting edge of their fields. They use good judgment and best practices to support decisions and deliverables.

"It’s fitting that such an extraordinarily dedicated member of the CALS community receive this award," Boor said at the event.
