Two forums will discuss current status of drought conditions in the region

The Northeast Regional Climate Center at Cornell University, in partnership with NOAA and the National Integrated Drought Information System, will open a discussion to kick off our assessment of the Northeast Drought, and to discuss building capacity for a Drought Early Warning System for the region. The meeting will be held on the Cornell campus and via webcast from the Cornell Cooperative Extension, Albany County office in Voorheesville on Monday, Feb. 27. A separate meeting will take place in Massachusetts on Wednesday, March 1.

The New York Forum on Feb. 27 will discuss the current status of drought conditions in the region, how conditions might change in the coming seasons, lessons learned from the recent drought, and information needs for dealing with future drought conditions. Breakout discussions will ask about lead times for decisions and information requirements. The Massachusetts meeting will be similar and build off the Drought Forum hosted in Boston in October.

Registration is required whether attending in-person or via live stream. Attendance is free.

The meeting is open to decision-makers and customers in drought-impacted areas in New York and New England states.

The forum was developed through a partnership with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the National Integrated Drought Information System, and the Northeast Regional Climate Center.
