The Department of Landscape Architecture is again ranked as one of the best in the nation, according to the latest survey by Design Intelligence.

The undergraduate program ranked fourth and the graduate program third based on input from professional practice leaders in the field. Additionally, Design Intelligence named professor Peter Trowbridge one of the 25 most admired educators in the country.

The annual rankings of undergraduate and graduate programs is derived from the perspective of leading practitioners. The survey of more than 1,400 professionals seeks to determine how well prepared students are from the 70 different programs in the U.S. Practitioners are asked about which programs are best in teaching skills such as design, communication, sustainability and technology.

Cornell’s program is unique in the Ivy League for offering an undergraduate landscape architecture degree. The department has been a part of Cornell since 1904.

“Our academic programs excel by providing a sound grounding in theory and technology as we prepare our students to launch careers and become leaders in the field,” said Trowbridge, chair of the Department of Landscape Architecture.

Design Intelligence credited Trowbridge as a passionate leader capable of motivating students to reach their potential. Trowbridge also earned the honor in 2013.
