David Schatz ’14, Applied Economics and Management major in the Charles H. Dyson School, recently blogged about his experiences in Washington D.C. as part of the Cornell in Washington program. The highlight? Meeting Cornell alumna and Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsberg ‘54. Check out David’s awesome blog Candid at Cornell to see sights from the rest of his time in Washington and learn more about his thoughts and experiences as a student at Cornell.

The Cornell in Washington program provides a great opportunity for students interested in government and public policy to spend a semester immersed in the life of the nation’s capital. In addition to pursuing coursework for credit towards their degree, students also have the opportunity to build career skills and a network by interning with local media, NGOs, or government officials. Students live in a Cornell-owned building, and have the opportunity to learn from prominent guest speakers and visit some of the most important sites in the city from Senate offices to the World Bank.

A bit closer to home, CALS has begun accepting applications for the second year of its pilot New York State Internship Program. Offering a wide range of internship opportunities across upstate NY, the program aims to connect businesses, non-profit organizations, and government agencies with exceptional and motivated CALS students seeking to build a career and get to know and contribute to a local community. Applications are being accepted now thru January 17, 2014.
