Interviewing Your Candidates
All candidates must be asked the same interview questions. You can ask different follow-up questions depending on the response of the candidate.
Once you have developed your interview questions, please send them to your HR Representative. Also, let your representative know who is being invited to interview; HR will send rejection notices to those not being interviewed.
You will need to be thoughtful when forming your search committee:
- Our culture is to have a search committee that includes a variety of different roles from the department/college that will give the candidates a well-rounded view of the unit and the people they will be working with.
- This will lead to a community that will embrace the new hire because they were a part of the interview process. Additionally, this will help the finalist establish connections that will help them build relationships when they are hired.
Before you ask for work samples, writing samples, or giving a presentation, please contact your HR Representative.
You can conduct your search via Workday or outside of Workday. By utilizing Workday, your search will be streamlined; the search committee will have immediate access to the application materials, and it will reduce the time it takes to close out the search. If you decide not to use Workday, then the Documentation of Search Summary Form must be submitted before a verbal offer can be extended. Please let your HR Representative know how you will be conducting your search.
As a reminder, you should reference the Training Materials during the interview process.
