About
In her research, Marvi is interested in the political economy of the development, caste, climate vulnerability, and the politics of land and labor in agrarian South Asia. Her current research is based in the Indus Delta Region in Sindh, Pakistan.
Marvi holds a B.Sc. in Politics and Economics from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), and an M.A. in International Development from the Heller School at Brandeis University, which she attended as a Fulbright scholar. Marvi’s advisors at Cornell are Fouad Makki (chair), Wendy Wolford and Sarah Besky. Her field research has been supported by the Einaudi Dissertation Proposal Development Program (DPDP), the CCSS Qualitative and Interpretative Institute, the Cornell Atkinson Graduate Research Grant, and the American Institute of Pakistan Studies (AIPS) Pre-Doctoral Junior Fellowship.
