Originally from Belize, Jamael earned his bachelor's degree in Environment and Development Sciences from Zamorano University in Honduras. During his studies, he conducted research in soil conservation and agroecology focusing on tillage systems and cover cropping.
In fall of 2025, he interned with the Nutrient Management Spear Program (NMSP). Now, as a research assistant, he collects data in the field, carries out a soil incubation study to analyze nitrogen mineralization of manure treatments as part of the Value of Manure project and helps process soil samples to update the New York Soil Test Conversion Program.
