Discover CALS

See how our current work and research is bringing new thinking and new solutions to some of today's biggest challenges.

This year's animal science undergraduate summer research poster session featured interns from the Nutrient Management Spear Program (NMSP), PRO-DAIRY, Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) and Cornell Initiative for Digital Agriculture (CIDA) as well as many individual labs throughout Cornell CALS Animal Science department. Check out some of the highlights below to learn more about these interns and their research, and to see if you'd like to attend next year's poster session.

"The NMSP summer internship was a helpful experience to reinforce my prior knowledge on the dairy industry and dairy cattle nutrition. I learned many new things from the staff and in-field experiences. The concluding poster session was a great opportunity to share my findings this summer with other students, staff and faculty. Being able to meet people from various backgrounds and industries that all care about the same goal at the poster session was a great experience to conclude the summer internship."

"After spending the summer helping with a variety of research and education projects, the poster session gave me the opportunity to share and discuss all of my work and research results relating to nutrient management. I enjoyed getting to speak in depth with those who work in industries relating to my internship, since they provided new insights into and ideas surrounding the projects I had been working on."

"It’s sometimes difficult to plan research around classes and other extracurriculars during the semester, so I was more than happy to have had the chance to focus on my lab work for a couple months. One thing I really enjoyed about the poster session was the variety of topics represented. Lab work can occasionally get so specific you lose sight of the bigger picture, but these poster sessions let us start thinking of the interdisciplinary applications of what we’re doing here."
