An initiative of the landscape strategies aims to lead this hyper eco-recreation island park to a more resilient future regarding significant sea-level rise.
Hyper Eco-Recreation Island is located in the northern part of Randall's Island in New York City. The design approach is built upon the pragmatic foundation of activating the island with flexible spaces for both people and animals. This proposal aims to balance recreational activities and ecological and environmental constraints while building upon the park's long history of water engagement. A system of "bridging patches" along the waterfront prevents large areas from inundation and introduces more space for natural habitats. The sports bowl on the "Vitality Point" is envisioned as a living laboratory to test and advance how humans and animals can co-exist.
