To All American Indian Indigenous Students and allies at Cornell:
AIISP will hold a Land Grab Teach-In on Thursday, September 8 at noon, 250 Caldwell. As you may know, Cornell University is one of the biggest offenders of the Land Grab Universities, having acquired lands that dispossessed hundreds of tribes, most notably tribes in what is now New York State, and most directly, the Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫ' (the Cayuga Nation).
Prior to attending, please view the attached YouTube video link of Meredith Palmer’s presentation Videos – Cornell University and Indigenous Dispossession Project and read Prof. Jon Parmenter’s recent post Assessing Cornell University’s Response to Recent Revelations Concerning the Origins of Revenues Obtained from the Morrill Act of 1862 – Cornell University and Indigenous Dispossession Project.
AIISP Director Prof. Kurt Jordan will lead a discussion about the faculty-led Cornell University & Indigenous Dispossession Project (CU&ID), Land Grab response, proposed set of reparations, and next steps the CU&ID committee plans to take.
Soup lunch provided.
