Parenting in NYC

The project's purpose is to develop a strong parenting program in NYC with the current parenting curriculum that is available. Develop and create materials for evidence-based parenting programs that meet the specific needs of families. These materials will support parents in building stronger relationships with their children and will also help improve children’s social skills, language development, and behavior.
Roles and responsibilities
The student is expected to develop and create materials for the current curriculum, "PS, it works!". Create marketing Material for the parenting program. Assist the facilitator with delivery of program and recruitment. Identify and applying for possible parenting education funding in NYC. Develop survey for parenting program.
Qualifications and previous coursework
This opportunity is available to students in Cornell University's College of Human Ecology.
The student must have some knowledge of parenting programs, creating and develop materials, computer skills and Qualtrics.
Learning outcomes
Through this summer experience, a successful intern will:
- Learn about CUCE-NYC and the program that is offer in the city
- Learn about different cultures in the communities and how parenting is affected by cultures
- Make connections with CUCE-NYC staff
- Have an opportunity to interact with the other CHE interns
- Gain knowledge of NYC
