Young Alumni Achievement Award 2026: Marisa Sergi-Schumann '15

Bio

Marisa Sergi-Schumann '15 is an entrepreneur, third-generation winemaker, and consumer packaged goods innovator whose career has been defined by building brands that connect agriculture, manufacturing, and modern consumer trends.

While studying Viticulture and Enology at Cornell University, Marisa launched RedHead Wine as her senior capstone project. What began as a student business quickly grew into a widely distributed wine brand, providing an early demonstration of her entrepreneurial vision and determination. Following graduation, she gained industry experience in California before returning to her roots in Ohio to help lead her family's wine business and support RedHead, now known as Red’s.

In 2020, Marisa and her husband, Evan Schumann, acquired L'uva Bella Winery during one of the most challenging periods in the beverage industry's history. Under their leadership, the company expanded its portfolio, strengthened retail partnerships, and grew distribution across multiple states. Marisa has also helped drive innovation through strategic collaborations, including a leadership role at The Brew Kettle and the development of cream-based alcoholic beverages with Hartzler Family Dairy, creating new opportunities for both the wine, beer and dairy industries.

Beyond beverages, Marisa serves as a board member of Crustless Creations, a rapidly growing food manufacturing company focused on innovative sandwich products and expanding domestic food production.

A frequent speaker, mentor, and advocate for entrepreneurship, Marisa has shared her experiences with students, founders, and industry professionals across the country. Her work reflects a commitment to innovation, job creation, and supporting American agriculture.
