Srikanth (Kris) Krishnamoorthy
Postdoctoral Associate, Animal Science

I work in the lab of Dr. Heather Huson, specializing in quantitative genetics and animal genomics, particularly focusing on dairy cattle and dog genetics. My research spans multiple projects, with current emphases including:
- Genomic Comparison of US Jersey Bulls: Assessing the genetic diversity, inbreeding, selection signature, and collection completeness of US Jersey bulls preserved in the US National Animal Germplasm Program compared to the in-situ population, and evaluating the impact of genomic selection.
- Genetic Disorders and Behavioral Traits in Dogs: Identifying genomic regions associated with genetic disorders and behavioral traits in dogs.
- Immune-Mediated Diseases in Dogs: Characterizing the peripheral blood mononuclear cell transcriptome of dogs suffering from immune-mediated diseases and exploring their association with plasma vitamin D levels.
- Population genetics of the Arctic Sled Dog
I leverage large genomic datasets and phenotypic records to address genetic issues in farm and companion animals, aiming to enhance productivity, conservation and sustainable management practices through the use of genomic data.
