Dr. Shambhvi
Cornell Environmental Defense Fund Postdoctoral Fellow, Animal Science

I am a member of the McFadden lab. My research endeavors to enhance livestock nutrition, optimizing production efficiency while simultaneously reducing methane emissions from dairy cattle and buffalo. This focus is particularly directed towards smallholder dairy systems and is part of Cornell’s Accelerating Livestock Innovations for Sustainability (ALIS) project.
In this pursuit, I aim to develop a tailored feed library specific to India and integrate this resource into ration balancing software to empower farmers in making informed feeding decisions. I am also working to establish the maintenance energy requirements and methane inventories for priority breeds of cattle and buffalo. Ultimately, the outcomes of this research will furnish region-specific feeding recommendations to the farmers, bridging the gap between potential and actual production levels of dairy animals.
