Tatsuya Inagaki is a postdoctoral fellow in the Moreau Lab in the Department of Entomology. His research focuses on host–microbe interactions in insects, with a particular emphasis on the termite–gut microbiome symbiotic system. He employs a variety of approaches, including fieldwork, insect rearing, microscopy and imaging, microbiome metabarcoding, and computer simulations. His current work investigates the artificial manipulation of termite gut microbiomes and its effect on the ecological traits of termites.
Tatsuya received his Ph.D. from the Insect Ecology Laboratory at Kyoto University in 2020. He has studied termites and their gut microbiomes since beginning his master’s research, earning his M.S. from Kyoto University in 2017. After completing three years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Tokyo Institute of Technology, he was awarded a JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) Overseas Research Fellowship and joined the Moreau Lab in April 2023.
