Professor Steenhuis teaches how the theoretical aspects learned during the first two years at Cornell relate to the world around us, especially how we affect the landscape and the climate impacts us. In the course “Introduction to Groundwater”, we discuss the principles of groundwater and contaminant transport and how to use this knowledge to solve real-world groundwater pollution problems. We will also hear from outside speakers about the significance of water in the world. In the “Water Measurement and Analysis Methods” class, we learn techniques to quantify water flow in rivers and soil, monitor soil, lake and river groundwater water quality, and understand the environmental effects.
