Sydney Boo is a first-year Ph.D. student in Communication at Cornell University. Her research examines how media shapes public attitudes toward health, environmental, and social policy. During her master’s studies, she focused on policies whose risks disproportionately affect particular populations and regions, such as nuclear facility siting, examining how media coverage shapes public attention to these issues. Across diverse policy contexts, she is interested in understanding both the role of media environments in shaping patterns of information exposure and the processes through which messages influence attitudes and behavior. These interests are rooted in her background in journalism and her experience at SNU Fact Check, South Korea's first fact-checking platform. Before joining Cornell, she earned her M.A. in Communication and her B.A. in Communication and Art History from Seoul National University.
