Royal Colle is professor emeritus of communication, having been a member of the department for more than 40 years. In addition to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, he has worked on development communication projects in India, Samoa, Vietnam, and Guatemala. He has also consulted on projects in Africa, Asia, and Latin America for international organizations, including the World Health Organization, World Bank, UNICEF, United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization, UN Asian and Pacific Training Centre for Information and Communication Technologies for Developers, and Ford Foundation. His most recent publication is Beyond Borders, Exploring the History of Cornell’s Global Dimension (2024), which he edited with Cornellians Heike Michelsen, Elaine Engst, and Corey Earle for the Cornell University Press. Colle chaired the Department of Communication from 1986 to 1995.
