Pengyi Duan is a Master's of Professional Studies (MPS) student with a concentration in Plant Biotechnology within the School of Integrative Plant Science. Advisor: Dr. William Miller
Interests: My research focuses on Agrobacterium-mediated transformation in tomato and the development of reporter-based screening strategies to improve transgene selection accuracy. Through this work, I developed extensive technical experience in plant tissue culture and molecular biology. My laboratory skillset includes media preparation, autoclave sterilization, bacterial culture and plasmid preparation, PCR amplification, genomic and plasmid DNA extraction, agarose gel electrophoresis, transformation via electrocompetent cells, sterile transfer techniques, and manipulation of plant material in tissue culture. These experiences support my future research goals in crop genetic modification and agricultural biotechnology
