Nirosh Senevirathne

I am a senior research associate in Dr. J. W. McFadden’s lab. After completing my Ph.D., I worked as a postdoctoral research associate at South Dakota State University, focusing on calf and heifer growth and development. Since 2019, I have served as a principal scientist at the RTI Clinical Research Organization, Brookings, USA, collaborating with pharmaceutical and nutraceutical companies across the USA.

Since joining Cornell University in 2022, my research has focused on nutrient utilization, milk production, and methane mitigation in dairy cows. I manage and conduct research in respiration chambers at the Large Animal Research and Teaching Unit. In this role, we quantify greenhouse gas emissions and measure energy metabolism in dairy cows. Further, we validate other technologies that measure methane emission compared to the respiration chamber method (Gold standard method).
