Ling Zhao

I am part of Xingen Lei's lab. I’m now working on the in-depth mechanisms of selenium-dependent glutathione peroxidase-1 (GPX1) in glucose metabolism and diabetes. Specifically, I am applying gene-knockout and overexpressing mouse models, combined with in vitro cellular experiments, to further elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the role of GPX1 in effecting the function of different cell types in pancreatic islets.
