Assistant Director for Advising, Office of Undergraduate Biology
Kendra Hutchins joined the Office of Undergraduate Biology as an Assistant Director for Advising in January of 2023. Kendra’s background is in the Plant Sciences; prior to joining the OUB, she worked in the Horticulture section of SIPS and managed Cornell’s Annual Trials Program, which evaluated the garden performance of annual ornamental flower and foliage plants under Ithaca’s unique growing conditions. Kendra holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and a Bachelor of Sciences in Plant, Soil, and Insect Sciences from the University Massachusetts, Amherst. She completed her master’s degree in Plant Breeding and Genetics at Cornell.
Kendra sees the undergraduate experience as an opportunity for self-discovery that leads to personal growth in addition to academic learning. She is dedicated to creating inclusive communities of belonging where students, staff, and faculty can work together to achieve individual and collective success.
When not at work, Kendra enjoys spending time with friends, walking in the woods with her dog, and metalsmithing.
