Joanna obtained her PhD in 2019 from the University of Silesia in Poland, where she investigated the degradation of paracetamol and diclofenac by environmental bacterial strains, focusing on their genetic background and immobilization strategies to enhance biodegradation efficiency. In recent years, her research has expanded to include biofabrication and 3D bioprinting techniques for tissue engineering, as well as the effects of various antimicrobials and antioxidants on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in Gram-negative bacteria. She first joined Prof. A. Hay’s lab as a Bekker Fellow in 2022 and now returns as a Visiting Fellow. In her free time, Joanna enjoys traveling, reading crime fiction, and interior decorating.
