Jinwook Kim

Jinwook (J.K.) Kim is a Postdoctoral Associate working in agrivoltaics and crop production. He received his B.S. in Agronomy from Iowa State University, an M.Sc. in Plant Breeding from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, and a Ph.D. in Crop Science from the University of Lleida in Spain. He has conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Guelph and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. Currently, he is continuing his research at Cornell University, focusing on agrivoltaics. His research interests include source-sink dynamics and the phenotypic plasticity of crops in response to environmental changes. In the context of agrivoltaics, his primary focus is on understanding how shading affects key yield components (e.g., grain number and weight) as well as canopy biomass in various crops, determining the best strategies for managing crop growth under solar panels to optimize both yield and land-use efficiency. Additionally, he aims to establish connections between his research interests and ecological approaches within the field of agrivoltaics. He also has a strong interest in programming, particularly in R, Python, and advanced SQL for big data analysis.
