Holly is a native of Interlaken, NY, and her love of the Finger Lakes Region runs deep.
Her passions for gardening, landscaping and growing food led her to receive an AAS degree in horticulture from SUNY Morrisville in 2009, with a concentration in greenhouse production. She has worked for both local dairy farms and vegetable/flower CSAs and loved being a part of small businesses that provided nutritious, organic food to her community, from seed to harvest.
In 2018, Holly joined Turf and Soil Diagnostics in Trumansburg NY as an entry level laboratory technician. During her 4.5 years with the lab, she was promoted to senior laboratory technician, managing the lab’s technician team and daily testing schedule. She performed physical soil testing for a variety of clients from all over the world, including Major League Baseball teams and the United States Golf Association. Holly gained valuable experience in particle size analysis, organic matter and pH testing, green roof media analysis, and infiltration rate testing, as well as in customer service and managing client data.
Holly joined the Cornell Soil Health Lab in August of 2024 and quickly came to appreciate how the lab’s services played a vital first step in understanding how to best prepare and nurture soils for sustained health. Holly is responsible for processing-in soil samples, organizing and distributing prepared samples to our laboratory technicians, maintaining the lab’s grower database, and performing respiration analyses. She is grateful to be part of a team that continues to provide farmers, community growers, and researchers with the fundamental information they need to support soil health, which ultimately supports health and wellbeing for us all.
At home, Holly loves to bake, listen to paranormal podcasts, garden, cook with family and friends, and hike in the Adirondacks with her partner.
