About

I am integrating trail camera images from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and community scientists to estimate abundance, occupancy, density, and distribution of multiple mammal species in NYS. This work will document statewide mammal biodiversity and detect long-term trends to inform wildlife conservation and management efforts.

Avian influenza discovered in NYS bobcats

Researchers tracked 16 live bobcats in the state and found widespread exposure to avian flu, with evidence of bobcats surviving but also succumbing to the highly pathogenic H5N1 strain.
