Deborah Aller

Debbie is a senior extension associate and executive director of the newly established New York Center for Organics Recycling and Education (NYCORE) at Cornell University. The NYCORE will continue and expand the work of the Cornell Waste Management Institute by delivering research-based knowledge, training, and technical support around organics residual management to farming communities across NYS. Prior to leading NYCORE, Debbie was a program coordinator with the New York Soil Health Initiative where she assisted farmers in adopting more sustainable soil management practices with a particular focus on quantifying and interpreting soil health in perennial fruit cropping systems as well as utilizing biochar and other organic amendments. She earned her M.S. in Environmental Science and International Development from the University of Edinburgh and Ph.D. in Soil Science from Iowa State University.
