Outstanding Alumni Award 2023: Glen Dake '87

Bio

Glen completed a BS in Landscape Architecture 1987 from Cornell University, and after this excellent start, he became a leader in innovative neighborhood park design in Southern California. His design work includes the Keck Ocean Atmosphere Science Center at Scripps Institution of Oceanography and numerous neighborhood parks that also collect stormwater. He led the non-profit LA Community Garden Council in its work to secure land for and build a series of community gardens in Echo Park, East Hollywood, East LA, Vermont Square and Watts.

Between 2001 and 2005 he served on then-Los Angeles Council Member Eric Garcetti’s staff to lead a campaign for a City of LA stormwater management bond measure, and to develop new renewable energy generation programs. In 2020 the American Society of Landscape Architects recognized him with its Community Service award. He served on the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California between 2014 and 2019.
