Outstanding Alumni Award 2026: Katie Schoenberg ’03
Bio
Dr. Katie Schoenberg holds a BS in Animal Science from Cornell University, MS in Animal and Avian Sciences from University of Maryland, and a PhD in Animal Science (Dairy Nutrition, Metabolism and Molecular Nutrition) from Cornell University. Her career has included Cooperative Extension, conservation biology, academic and industry research. She has had a 14-year career at Elanco Animal Health, starting as a research scientist in dairy product development and moving to R&D project leadership in both Farm Animal and Pet Health innovation.
Four years ago, Katie successfully pivoted her passion for mentorship and advocacy for animal health careers into Elanco’s Talent Acquisition organization. She currently serves as Senior Director of the Global Talent Acquisition organization; demonstrating that a deep understanding of Elanco’s products and mission is a significant advantage in attracting the world’s top talent.
Beyond her Elanco professional achievements, Katie is a dedicated advocate for STEM education and serves on several land-grant college advisory boards, including at Cornell. Katie has served as Vice Chair within the President’s Council of Cornell Women, CALSAA Director and President, as an admissions ambassador and is also adjunct faculty in the Department of Animal Science. Katie currently serves on the Cornell University Council Administrative Board and as a CALS Dean’s Advisory Council Member. Originally from Upstate New York, she is a devoted "animal person" who shares her home outside of Indianapolis with her husband, two daughters, two cats, and her horse. You can often find her camping, curling, or cheering on Cornell’s Big Red hockey team.
