Katie Edwards
Adjunct Assistant Professor, Microbiology
Katie Edwards will join the Department of Microbiology in January 2025.
Her primary appointment as an Assistant Professor is at Binghamton University, where her laboratory is centered on the development of combination drug therapies, taking advantage of the synergistic effects of vitamins on drug action with targeted and simultaneous delivery afforded by liposome formulations. Her focus is on improved treatments for neuromuscular diseases.
Dr. Edwards will be offering a 2-credit course, titled BioMi 2970: Principals of Pharmaceutical Science, in the upcoming Spring semester.
Her interest in understanding vitamin-dependent pathways and vitamin deficiencies extends to environmental toxicology, including the study of microorganisms and aquatic organisms. Her lab leverages microbial products as analytical reagents in developing new bioanalytical tools.
