In a partnership between Harvest New York and New York State Seed to Supper, we are excited to announce that Cornell Garden-Based Learning will be hosting a one-day Resilient Gardens Symposium in New York City focused on culturally relevant gardening skills adapted to climate change for the unique resource needs of urban gardeners.
The symposium will focus on:
- Addressing barriers for beginning gardeners most affected by post-pandemic food insecurity.
- Hearing from leaders of diverse stakeholder groups on strategies to overcome these issues in cities.
- Connecting resources between Cornell Cooperative Extension and leading community gardens.
The Resilient Gardens Symposium event is scheduled for Saturday, August 10th, from 9:00 am - 4:00 PM at Barnard College, at Barnard Hall, 3009 Broadway, New York, NY 10027.
We'll have speakers from NYC Community Gardens working with the Harvest New York Team, as well as Cornell University staff on key urban gardening topics, and tours of innovative projects to gain inspiration from in the afternoon! This is primarily open to Seed to Supper Garden Educators, Master Gardener Volunteers, Seed to Supper Participants from Hudson Valley and Long Island Programs, as well as partner Community Gardens in New York City.
