About the speaker
Kyoko Shibata Okamura has over 20 years of experience in advancing the global nutrition agenda. Since she joined the World Bank in 2018, she has been actively co-leading policy and technical dialogue as well as analytical and advisory work in areas such as evidence-based nutrition investment strategies, nutrition-responsive public financial management, obesity prevention policies including nutrition-targeted taxation, community-based nutrition service delivery and muti-sectoral nutrition programs leveraging health, agriculture, social protection and education platforms. Her recent achievements include publication of the Investment Framework for Nutrition 2024 as a co-editor. She also serves as a member/advisor in several global fora, such as the Scaling Up Nutrition Movement Executive Committee (as a Finance Expert) and the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) International Advisory Group, currently co-leading the N4G Financing and Accountability Working Group. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked in UN agencies managing large-scale nutrition programs in high malnutrition burden countries, such as Ethiopia, Nepal and Cambodia.
About the seminar series
The Harry ’51 & Joshua ’49 Tsujimoto Perspectives in Global Development Seminar Series showcases innovative approaches to development with experts from around the globe. Each year, the series attracts online registrants from over 45 countries and more than 350 organizations.
Seminars are held Wednesdays from 12:20-1:10 p.m. eastern time during the semester in 101 Bradfield Hall. Students, faculty and the general public are welcome to attend in-person or via Zoom.
The series is co-sponsored by the Department of Global Development, the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment, and the Charles H. Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management as part of courses GDEV 4961, AEM 4961, NTRES 4961, GDEV 6960, AEM 6960, and NTRES 6960.
