Cornell University's Rice Field Day is an all-day event from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 18, 2024, that features an introduction to rice farming in New York State and grain processing. You will learn about the research on rice varieties that are suitable for New York's climate and growing conditions, and you will preview the agronomic potential for rice.

- 9am-9:30am: Welcome remarks and presentation overview of the NY Rice Project (Dr. Jenny Kao-Kniffin)
- 9:30-10am: Climate Adaptation and the Potential for Flood Tolerant Agriculture in NYS (Dr. Chuan Liao and Dr. Ying Tu)
- 10-11:45am: Tour of the Rice Paddy System and Overview of Farming Practices (Erik Andrus)
- 11:45am-12:15pm: Improving Water Quality with Rice Farming through a Circular Nutrient Economy (Dr. Matt Reid)
- 12:15-12:45pm: Taste Test Survey featuring the NY Rice cooked rice and value-added products
- 12:45-1:30pm: Lunch (included in registration fee)
- 2:30-3:15pm: Tour of the Drip Irrigation Rice Fields at Hilltop Community Farm (Jean Koski and Jared Gulliford)
- 3:15-4:30pm: Tour of the Grain Processing Equipment and Postharvesting Storage (Erik Andrus)
- 4:30-5pm: Market Potential for NY Rice (Erik Andrus)
