Join us as Dr. Ryan W. Booth, Keahu presents "The Heart of It All: The Coeur d’Alene Jesuit-Native Boarding School." Dr. Ryan W. Booth (Upper Skagit) examines the history of the Jesuit-Native American boarding school at De Smet, Idaho as a case study. The boarding school among the Schitsu’umsh (Coeur d’Alene) operated from 1878-1974.
Dr. Ryan W. Booth, Keahu, is an Assistant Professor of History at Washington State University and a member of the Upper Skagit Tribe. His scholarship focuses on Native peoples in the American West, U.S. military history, and comparative imperial frontiers, with publications ranging from peer-reviewed articles to public essays and media consulting. An award-winning educator and Fulbright-Nehru Fellow, Booth has lectured internationally, contributed to PBS and documentary projects, and served in leadership roles with the Western History Association and Humanities Washington.
