Stepping into supervision requires more than new tasks—it takes a mental transition to the mindset of a leader who can guide, support, and inspire a team. In Transition to Supervisor, you’ll gain the essential leadership skills needed to manage people effectively and confidently in today’s agricultural workplace. This six-week online course, part of Cornell Agricultural Workforce Development’s Agricultural Supervisory Leadership certificate program, is designed for both new supervisors and those preparing to take on a leadership role. Even experienced managers will find fresh insights to strengthen their leadership and team management skills.
Transition to Supervisor is a six-week online course delivered through Moodle. Instruction includes a combination of prerecorded lectures, reading assignments, written activities, and a weekly quiz. Every week students can participate in a live discussion session with instructors and peers to discuss the weekly activities and learning topics. To get the most out of the course, students should plan to spend a minimum of two hours each week on combined course activities. Cornell Agricultural Workforce Development’s supervisory leadership program consists of six courses. Students who complete all six courses with a grade of 70 percent or better on all weekly quizzes will receive an Agricultural Supervisory Leadership certificate.

Audience
Cornell Agricultural Workforce Development leadership courses are appropriate for both new and experienced farm supervisors and managers, as well as those preparing to become supervisors. All participants will learn leadership concepts and practice skills that will improve their ability to build a positive workplace and get results through leading others.
