Consumer Produce Safety for Educators

  • Teaching Consumers Produce Safety highlights the importance of working together with consumers, industry, and government to ensure food safety and prevent foodborne illness.
    This course is designed to inform consumer educators of existing resources, best practices, and challenges to teach consumers produce safety principles.


    Learning Outcomes
    • Introduce educational resources that are available to teach consumers about produce safety.
    • Identify food safety risks introduced in fresh produce by the consumers.
    • Navigate key elements of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and strategies to mitigate
    risks introduced by the consumers.
