Carol Berman

About Carol

Carol has spent her career as a storyteller, transforming complex information into compelling narratives that resonate with many audiences. As Senior News Director at Penn Medicine, she leads media relations across the University of Pennsylvania Health System's three Philadelphia hospitals, the Perelman School of Medicine, and its network of academic and clinical departments. Carol and her team work relentlessly to showcase medical breakthroughs that change lives and the people who make them happen.

Her journey spans diverse communication landscapes. At Comcast, she managed production, bringing executive messages and multimedia events to life. She ventured into entrepreneurship with City Girl Media, a boutique firm serving large corporations, emerging nonprofits, and public figures seeking authentic communication strategies. As a CNBC producer, Carol covered pharmaceuticals, personal finance, corporate fraud, and industry trends, delivering news on history-making events including the dot-com boom, the September 11 attacks, and Hurricane Katrina. She turned her business news acumen toward investment banking at CIT, spearheading marketing and communications across seven sectors. Her career began in local television newsrooms from Bangor, Maine to New York City.

Carol earned a Bachelor of Science with Honor in Communication from Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), then pursued a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University.

Cornell Big Red runs through Carol's veins. What began as staying connected has grown into decades of devoted service—she just can't say no to giving back. She serves on the Dean's Advisory Council for CALS and served as president and communications chair for the CALS Alumni Association. Now a sustaining member of the President's Council of Cornell Women, she co-chaired the communications committee for two years. She also serves on the Cornellians advisory board. For years, she participated as a Cornell Alumni Admissions Ambassador Network volunteer and remains engaged with CUonthehill. The Cornell Club of Philadelphia is her local alumni connection.

When not working, Carol enjoys baking, live music, piano, oboe, and Peloton workouts. Her growing hobby list includes tap dancing and pickleball—never letting lack of skill get in the way of new pursuits. Forever a New Yorker in spirit, Carol lives in suburban Philadelphia with her husband, two kids, and rescue pups who run the household.
