Solving the global climate change through academic/public/private impact projects
The mission of the CA-NY Climate Innovation Highway is to bend the global warming curve within the next few decades and continue bending it for the rest of the century to keep planetary warming below 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Vision
The California-New York Climate Innovation Highway is galvanizing a ‘collaboratory’ between the University of California (UC) system and Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. With a focus on public/private/academic partnerships, the CA-NY Climate Innovation Highway will advance the most exciting and ambitious climate demonstrations and foster a new realm of research and development (R&D) programs for impact, leading two of the world's largest economies (NY and CA) as they transition toward negative carbon emissions.
Funding will support new R&D ventures, spanning fundamental scientific breakthroughs to large-scale, shovel-ready demonstrations; education programs; translational/commercial development working with tech transfer; state, US and international climate policy analysis; and entrepreneurship funds for small business development.
Co-Chairs

Process
Initial impact projects will be chosen jointly between Cornell and UC experts. Three convening sessions in 2021 with the engagement of academia, government and private sector participants will culminate in a highly visual public launch and a report that establishes the most ambitious projects for co-creation among Cornell and UC experts.
