Ann LaFave
Assistant Dean of Academic Programs and Student Success, Office of the Dean

Ann has been the Assistant Dean of Academic Programs and Student Success at CALS since 2020. Before this role, she served as the Director of CALS Student Services from 2010 and began her career at Cornell in CALS Admissions, where she spent 14 years, including several years as the director.
Under Ann’s leadership, the student services and admissions teams provide a premier experience for CALS students from admission to graduation and beyond. They support and collaborate with faculty and staff who engage, teach, mentor, and advise students across numerous majors and graduate fields. Ann focuses on developing and leveraging technology and tools to streamline the student experience, allowing students to concentrate on their studies, research, activities, and experiences rather than administrative tasks. Ultimately, her team ensures that students find success, engage with support networks, and pursue opportunities that align with their career aspirations and future goals.
Ann’s passion for working with students stems from her own experiences as a first-generation college student and an external transfer student to Cornell. She is also deeply passionate about agriculture, having grown up on a dairy farm in Eastern New York. Today, she operates a 1,000-acre cash crop farm not too far from Cornell’s campus with her husband and children. In her free time, Ann enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family.
Ann holds an A.A.S. from SUNY Cobleskill and earned her B.S. and M.P.S. from Cornell CALS.
