Ann LaFave
Assistant Dean of Academic Programs and Student Success, Office of the Dean
Ann has been the Director of CALS Student Services since 2010 and before that spent 14 years in CALS Admissions, including several years as the director. Ann’s student services team focuses on providing a premier experience for CALS students. They support and collaborate with faculty and staff that engage, teach, mentor, and advise students in our numerous majors. Ann’s focus has been on developing and leveraging technology and tools to make the student experience as smooth as possible. Ann and her staff want students to spend time on studies, research, activities, and passions, not on administrative tasks. Ultimately, they ensure students are finding success, engaging with support networks, and pursuing opportunities that will provide them with the career and future they desire.
Ann’s desire to work with students comes from her experiences as a first-generation college student and an external transfer student to Cornell. Ann is also passionate about agriculture as she grew up on a dairy farm in Eastern NY and now operates a 1,000-acre cash crop farm with her husband and children. Ann enjoys traveling, reading and spending time with her family.
Ann holds a B.S. and an M.P.S. from Cornell CALS.
In addition to her work with Cornell, Ann serves on the Salesforce.org Higher Ed Advisory Council
