Projects across Cornell are exploring how the university's grasslands – from hayfields to campus lawns – can protect birds, encourage biodiversity and sequester carbon to fight climate change.

The 27th annual Great Backyard Bird Count, which last year saw half a million participants counting more than 7,500 bird species, will run Feb. 16-19.

The 26th annual Great Backyard Bird Count – in which bird and nature lovers around the world unite in an effort to tally as many species as possible over four days – begins Feb. 17 and runs through Feb. 20.

The 25th annual Great Backyard Bird Count is scheduled for Feb. 18-21. All are invited to join the count so that as many birds as possible can become part of a massive database used by scientists to track changes in bird populations over time.
