Nicole Tommell
Farm Business Management Specialist, Cornell Cooperative Extension
Nicole Tommell is the regional farm business management specialist and team leader for the Cornell Cooperative Extension Central New York Dairy, Livestock and Field Crops Program. In this role, Nicole interacts with a variety of farm businesses involved with production agriculture. In the eight-county region she serves, Nicole’s responsibilities include:
- Assisting new and beginning farms with startup and business planning
- Facilitating risk management programs for dairy and field crop operations
- Collaborating with regional specialists to create farm business curriculum
- Focusing on human resource topics with a special emphasis on NYS labor regulations
Additionally, Nicole works with non-operating landowners and farm families on land valuation. She aids with identifying rental rates, land types, leasing agreements and navigating land tax specifics.
