John Putnam
Greenhouse Grower, Cornell AES

In his role as a Cornell AES greenhouse grower, John primarily supports research projects and manages crop production for Plant Science department courses, ensuring plants are ready to meet the needs of hands-on learning. He brings five years of experience from the Seeley-Mudd greenhouses, where he worked with Ecology and Evolutionary Biology research and supported a variety of projects with unique growing requirements.
With over a decade of horticultural experience, John’s background spans a range of controlled environment agriculture settings across Wisconsin, Colorado, and Nevada, including ornamental landscape crop production, nursery plant propagation, and commercial cannabis cultivation. He holds an AAS in Agriculture Production Management, which, combined with his practical experience, gives him a well-rounded perspective on the diverse needs of each crop and research application.
John is also an undergraduate in the School of Integrative Plant Science through the Employee Degree Program, focusing on controlled environment agriculture and cannabis cultivation.
