Jayla has worked at Cornell since 2017, previously in Arts & Sciences Advising and now as the Director of Advising for the Environment & Sustainability major. Throughout her professional career she has done academic advising, orientation planning, worked with peer leaders, and also with diversity programs & initiatives. Jayla was a first-generation college student who earned a B.A. in Psychology from SUNY Cortland and a M.S. in Higher Education from Syracuse University. What she values most about working with students is witnessing their development over the course of their undergraduate journey, and focusing on helping them discover who they want to be as a whole, not just as a student.
In her free time, Jayla enjoys all things food, music, sports and spending time with her family, friends, and rescue pup!
